Same designs, different format. Pick whichever fits your workflow.
Word is the familiar choice if you already have Microsoft Office. Every template here is a .docx file with editable tables and room for your logo, so you change the text instead of building the layout. It works in Word for Mac and Windows, Microsoft 365, and free alternatives such as LibreOffice.
No signup and no email address. Click the button and the .docx file downloads.
Add or remove rows in the line-items table without breaking the layout.
Ten designs are set to A4, Two Tables and Vibrant Base to US Letter. They use Arial, Times New Roman, or Courier New, so the layout holds in any app.
Go to Insert > Pictures, pick your logo file, and size it with the corner handles.
On Windows and Mac: File > Save As, then choose PDF as the file format.
Business name, address, and contact details for both parties.
A sequential number, the issue date, and a due date, for example 14 or 30 days later.
Description, quantity, unit price, and amount per item.
Calculated automatically in the Excel and Google Sheets versions, by hand in Word and Google Docs.
Bank details such as IBAN and BIC, accepted payment methods, and payment terms.
PO number, project name, and any custom terms or thank-you note.
Click Download Word on any template card above. Open the .docx file in Microsoft Word, LibreOffice, Apple Pages, or Google Docs.
Replace the sample business name, address, and contact details at the top. Use Insert > Pictures to put your logo in place of the sample one.
Fill in your client's name and billing address, the invoice number, the issue date, and the service date. In the line-items table, enter the description, quantity, and unit price for each row. Word doesn't calculate the table for you, so work out the line totals yourself, or use the Excel version of the same design.
Enter the subtotal, the VAT rate and amount (or sales tax in the US), and the total. Add your payment terms, for example 14 or 30 days, and your bank details.
On Windows: File > Save As, then choose PDF under Save as type. On Mac: File > Save As, then choose PDF under File Format. Email the PDF to your client and keep the .docx for later changes.
The free invoice skill fills any of these 12 designs from a short description. It asks for the details an EU invoice needs, such as the service date and VAT IDs, and can turn the PDF into a ZUGFeRD e-invoice.
Word and Google Docs both give you an editable, document-style invoice. The difference is where the file lives and how you work with it.

Word's built-in gallery has a few generic invoice templates. The free templates above come in 12 designs as .docx files that open in any current version of Word, including Microsoft 365 and Word for Mac, and in LibreOffice. Free download, no signup.
Download a Word invoice template above, open the .docx file, and replace the sample business and client details. Fill in the line items, calculate the subtotal and tax (or use the matching Excel template, which does it for you), then save the document as a PDF and attach it to an email.
Click the sample logo in the header and delete it. Then go to Insert > Pictures, pick your logo file, and drag the corner handles to size it.
On Windows and Mac: File > Save As, then choose PDF as the file format. You get one PDF file to attach to an email. A PDF can't be edited by accident, so the totals reach your client the way you sent them.
Not reliably. Word has basic table formulas, but they don't update on their own and break easily when you add rows. If you want the subtotal, tax, and total to recalculate as you type, download the Excel version of the same template. Same design, formulas included.
Use the tax line below the subtotal. Multiply the subtotal by your rate, for example 20% VAT, enter the result as the tax amount, and add it to the subtotal for the total. If you don't charge VAT, for example under a small-business exemption or reverse charge, write the reason on the invoice instead. For automatic tax, use the matching Excel template.
Yes. Every template downloads as a standard .docx file. It opens in Word for Mac, Microsoft 365, LibreOffice, Apple Pages, and Google Docs (upload the file to Drive first). The templates use Arial, Times New Roman, or Courier New. Apps without these fonts use one with the same character widths, so the layout holds.
Save your filled-in .docx as a base file and copy it each month. Update the dates and the invoice number and change the line items. For the invoices you receive, there's Billpal: it imports invoices and receipts from your email, takes photos of paper receipts via WhatsApp, and exports everything for your accounting software.
Billpal collects invoices and receipts from where they already arrive and turns them into structured, categorized data for your accountant.
